On June 17th, the American Society of Civil Engineers joined with the National Municipal Stormwater Alliance (NMSA) to host a webinar providing an in-depth assessment of Stormwater as a part of the 2025 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure.

Stormwater was one of 18 categories graded in the newly released report card receiving a “D.” While recent progress has been made primarily due to significant federal investment, these facilities are experiencing major challenges including aging infrastructure and higher costs associated with both maintaining and expanding systems.

Panelists from ASCE and NMSA showcased report card findings through key criteria supporting the grade including funding, resilience, and condition. These experts also offered relevant examples and perspectives to illustrate stormwater’s critical status in the U.S., and what solutions may “raise the grade” and improve outcomes moving forward.
