Infrastructure investment is a popular topic this election season, making its way onto the ballot in several states around the country including California, Connecticut, and Missouri. ASCE is a champion of infrastructure investment and this election season, the Society encourages you to take action on infrastructure-related ballot measures in your state. Join ASCE in improving our country’s D+ infrastructure.

In California, Proposition 6 is a ballot measure that would repeal the 10-cent gas tax increase enacted by the passage of Senate Bill 1 (SB1) in 2017. The state is already seeing positive impacts from SB1 including repaved roads, bridge repairs, and more. ASCE encourages you to vote no on Proposition 6.

Proposition 110 is an important infrastructure measure on Colorado’s ballot. This ballot measure would raise the state’s sales tax by 0.62% and create revenue to address longstanding problems with funding transportation projects in the state. ASCE encourages a yes vote on Proposition 110.

Connecticut voters are faced with a Transportation Revenue Lockbox Amendment, which would require funds in the State Transportation Fund to be directly allocated to transportation improvement projects only. ASCE supports a yes vote on the Transportation Revenue Lockbox Amendment.

Missouri voters will see Proposition D on their ballot, which would raise the state gasoline tax by 10 cents per gallon. ASCE says vote yes on Proposition D.

Finally, Rhode Islanders should keep an eye out for two important ballot measures: the Rhode Island Environment, Recreation and Water Infrastructure Bond Measure and the Rhode Island School Buildings Bond Measure. The Rhode Island Environment, Recreation and Water Infrastructure Bond Measure would authorize $47.3 million in bonds for coastal resiliency, clean water and drinking water, wastewater treatment resiliency improvements, dam safety and other water related projects, while the Rhode Island School Buildings Bond Measure would allow the state to borrow $250 million in bonds for public school improvements. ASCE supports a yes vote on both measures.

If you live in a state with infrastructure investment on the ballot, ASCE will be sharing additional information with you in the weeks leading up to the November 6th election. But first, make sure you are registered to vote.
