The Department of Transportation (DOT) on December 13th announced a $25 million funding opportunity associated with its new Rural Autonomous Vehicle (RAV) research program. Recipients will use RAV program funding to research the benefits and application of automated vehicles and related technologies in rural and Tribal communities. One $15 million award will focus on passenger transportation and another $10 million award will center on freight movement. Accredited universities are eligible to apply for this six-year cooperative agreement program. DOT plans to hold a webinar on the funding opportunity in January.
