The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) on December 7th published a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail Program (FSP Program). The FSP Program funds projects to expand or establish new intercity passenger rail service, reduce the state of good repair backlog, improve performance, and enhance safety. Up to $4.56 billion is available for awards under this NOFO. Applications are due by April 21st. The notice specifically outlines funding availability and application requirements for projects that are not located on the Northeast Corridor (NEC). The Federal Register announcement indicates a separate notice will be published for projects along the NEC.
