The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) on March 29th published a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) making a whopping $2.4 billion available through the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) Program. The program supports projects to modernize freight and passenger rail infrastructure. Another goal of the program is to improve safety through projects such as grade crossing enhancements, rail line relocations, workforce training, and deployment of railroad safety technologies. Money available through this NOFO represents Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 and 2024 funding. Applications are due May 28th.
